Default Saving from Rice *WARNING: Scary CRX Pics inside*

Ok so my friend had this CRX for a while, and I just felt so bad for it, so I ended up picking it up from him in a trade. It needs ALOT of help. I only know what I'm getting into, to an extent.

So yea.... on the search for stock body parts. Not JDM, I'm not into that, I'm just going to be going with a nice USDM body with a drop and some rims. And a good paint job. The motor will come after.

Oh, and the mad tyte JDM one wiper mod. Easy 15hp.

OK! So I've got some questions. It's a DX body/chassis, but it has a D15B6 in it, the HF motor. So I need to know, will the HF motor harness or the Si harness plug into the DX interior/chassis harness? It has a CRX Si motor harness in it, so could I just plug that up and go? I know the DX harness won't work because DX isn't MPFI....

Basically, it's a DPFI car, with a MPFI motor. DPFI interior/chassis harness. I need the car to run. What harness lol? That's my main concern, as I want the car to run before I fix the body.

Help! Lol.

for saving a rex.

To get the car running you're going to need to convert the DX engine harness over to MPFI using pieces of the Si harness. Look at the FAQ or google "DPFI MPFI swap" and you'll get directions. You will need to use the DX harness though; running an Si harness wouldn't work because some of the plugs are different and I believe I've heard the interior harnesses won't match.

Ok so I searched on the dpfi-mpfi wiring. Everything is wiring from a dx motor.

I already have a mpfi motor. So the mpfi crank angle sensor doesn't have to be pinned on the ecu, correct, as I have the HF ecu?

The DPFI>MPFI wiring on the faq says:

- Connect the yellow/black wires from the two DPFI injector harnesses and run it to the yellow/black wire on the injector resistor box.
- Connect the yellow wire from the DX injector to the #1 injector (brown wire).
- Connect the red wire from the DX injector and run it to the #3 injector (blue wire).
- Connect the wire you labelled A3 to the #2 injector (red wire).
- Connect the wire labelled A7 to the #4 injector (yellow wire).
- Then, connect the 4 red/black wires coming from injector resistor box to each of the four injectors.

I don't have 2 DX injectors, I have 4 HF injectors. Sooo.... do I just run the wires from the injectors to the resistor box?

it sounds like the car already has been changed over to mpfi, if it has then theres nothing that needs to be done with the wiring, just to be sure post a pic of the engine bay. Also does the valve cover say 8 valve or 16 valve or nothing at all? The 8 valve is the hf engine, the 16 valve is the si engine and if it says nothing its still the 16 valve non si engine aka dx engine. My under standing is that the car does NOT run but the mpfi stuff has already been installed but the wiring is NOT done correct?

The motor is a D15B6, aka 8 Valve HF motor.

Rather than upgrading the stock DX motor to MPFI, the PO put the entire D15B6 in the car. Not sure why. So yea, no wiring has been done. I have a DX harness that has been started on the conversion, a uncut DX harness, and an Si harness. I have a PM5 and a PM8 ECU, and the PO said he has a PM6 laying around somewhere, he'll just need to find it.

^^^That's the Si harness in the engine bay. Someone told him it would be a plug and play affair with the Si harness, but he never tried.

where are u lost? the motor has 16 valve, 4 valves per cylinder, that doesnt mean that its a 1.6 just 16 valves. man i hate it when the shop mechanics near my job all say its a 2.4L motor cuz it says 24 valve on the motor or the back of the car. then they return all the crap they buy cuz they say i send em the wrong parts.

The D15B6 is an 8 valve motor. The valve cover says 16 valve.

I'm just going to get another DX harness that plugs into the ecu and the motor harness. Anybody have one?

Here's why I want that new harness:

That harness loom that has the plugs for the ECU is the same between DX sedans, CRXs, and hatches, correct? If so, I’ll go get a new one tomorrow from the junkyard.

So, I ended up scraping a lot of stuff, and starting anew:

DX

Si

Materials gathered:

TPS extended and switched:

Just a word of advice: I would use heatshrink instead of electrical tape, especially on anything that is exposed in the engine bay.

x72000.

Nothing worse then putting a car together and then having to break out the multimeter cause of human error X-(

I would take the extra few minutes it would take to heatshrink the ENTIRE thing wherever you splice it.

While that harness is scary...you should see the mess we pulled out of the T.A.P.S. CRX car.....I still have nightmares about yellow tape.....LOL

This is just a temporary fix, I will heatshrink the next harness. I just gotta get the car running, because otherwise the city will make me send it away.

Besides, the D15B6 isn't staying.

Good to know.

I can't decide. I do NOT want a B-series, and I do NOT want a K series. I'm really leaning towards a turbo D16Y8, but an all motor H22 sounds fun....

Well, I thought I would have it started by tonight. But I don't. It tries, but won't turn on. Bleh.

I got everything wired up other than one distributor wire, but my friend was touching C1 to the distributor while I was trying to start it...

Tomorrow is another day, I suppose!

EDIT: Will the car not start without the EACV plugged in?

Not in my experience, no.
