what are the specs on the cams? what head r u using? what is the mileage?
i personally dont like to run larger aftermarket cams on stock valvetrain but if u go with aftermarket springs i would get ones that are rated accordingly for the cam setup. too stiff of a spring isnt that good cause ull have some serious valve lash.

get a set of type-r valve springs and u should be good for the crower stage 1's. for the skunk2 stage 1's i would changethe valve springs. but if ur looking into skunk2 pro series i would change the springs and retainers.

ctr cams you will see amazing gains.. not to mention vtec coming on alot harder.
crower stg 1s should be fine with stock valvetrain as long as you dont go pass the stock rev limiter. the gains between the two should be similar.

i had a stock b20vtec with ctr cams/short ram intake/2' exhaust. and i pulled 175whp untuned running on an b18 program. 20whp jump at vtec.

Crower 1's are just a tiny big bigger then ctr/itr's, the s2s1's are a tiny bit bigger then the crower 1's.. personaly for the money you spend you could go with a itr valvetrain and ctr cams instead of wasting money on a cam thats not worth it, a stage 1 cam isn't all that different from a ctr.
