Upped the boost on my SOHC VTEC! Dyno results....
I'm running the TD04-15G Greddy kit and intercooler, blue box, 255 in-tank pump,
B&M Commandflo, and RC 310 injectors.
The motor is stock internals, with ARP headstuds, Cometic HP headgasket, and ZEX 59300 cam. Ignition is stock.
All runs were on 92 octane, NGK BKR6E plugs gapped at .030, ignition timing at 1 degree retarded, open downpipe.
On 5 psi, it made 164.1 whp and 143.3 tq. A/F ratio was 12.5:1.
On 7 psi, it made 189.2 whp and 169.3 tq. A/F ratio was 12.5:1.
On 9 psi, it made 203.5 whp and 184.0 tq. A/F ratio was 12.0:1.
On 10 psi, it made 212.2 whp and 190.8 tq. A/F ratio was 12.0:1.
Not bad, huh? I was really surprised that I was able to run only 1 degree retarded ignition timing all the way up to 10 psi on pump gas, especially since the air temp in the dyno area was 90 degrees. Usually it's like 60 degrees around here.
And the runs above 7 psi I tuned it a little richer because I was wanted to be a little on the safer side. Maybe if I leaned it out to 12.5:1 at the higher boost levels I could make 215 whp or so.
Anyway, I'm really happy with the results! My goal for this car was 12's with the sohc and baby turbo, and it looks like it's going to be cake, since on 5 psi it already ran a 13.3 and several 13.4's.
I should be good for mid 12's now, but I still don't have any drag radials or slicks, so I don't know if I'll be able to run in the 12's on traction limited stock tires like I have been. What do you guys think?

i can't believe you ran a 13.3-13.4 on just 5psi.......that's very crazy...very very crazy. EDIT: i just now noticed you're running that in a hatch. i thought those times were in an EX for which i'm used to seeing mid 14's on anything under 8 psi
good job

Running 13.3 in a HB with a Turboed SOHC VTEC is ******* quick at 5psi..
congrats bro..
I think if u boosted it up 2 7psi u willbe able to run 12's easily on some nice slickies..

Badass dude. What would be your guess or experience with longevity of this setup?
I am sure you can just turn down the boost for the street, but is there any other tuning you need to do if you lower your psi? Maybe the cam or a/f ratio etc.
Anyway, badass.

HOLY sheepshit Batman!!!!!!!
I must save this info!!!!!
AKSC and 12 psi is in the plans.
12.5 at 109 on slicks is my guess with 10 psi.

I'm sure his 1940 lb's had a little do with his great times. Good job. Who says you can't beat em up with a SOHC.

i would like to see the time slip, that you ran the 13.4 on, with only 5psi of boost!!!
was this with slicks??
what were your 60'foots??
please inform me!!!

Gettin me excited. Should have my car on the track in a few weeks. Motor is still being built and I got to break it in.
Just gonna run it a 12psi. But it's cool to know I can definetly get in the 12's with the setup I got.
Are you running a LSD?
Oh and stock engine lasted about a year and a half. And then went down on the track like it should. Piston rods shattered.

Old roommates CRX hit 12.64 @ 106 at Pomona w/SOHC/VTEC, stock block, home made turbo kit (t3/t4, starion cooler) and slicks. I think you should be able to do the same. About a month later, he upped the boost to 12 lbs with new injectors, and Boom! Be careful, good luck
i am sorry dude, but i find your times to be a little far fetched!!! i mean come on 5psi and running 13.30??? i just dont see how, unless you had slicks and were cutting 1.3 60'foots... give us some sort of pictorial info to back you up...

I dont doubt it, he's making the WHP of a stock B18C5 and the torque of a B20Z along with having a lighter motor and tranny in a light weight chassis.
i don't know, i want to believe you, but low 13's at 5psi is extremely hard to believe. We had a hatch, tuned at 8 psi that was seeing low 14's. Granted it weighed more, but 13's. Also, i have to say that i knew a guy w/ a coupe that ran 12's @ 15 psi, this is another reason i think your a little off. Yes he was tuned and built. I don't know, i hope this is true though because i have the greddy on my SOHC and i did a best of 15.6 at not even 4 psi @ 89. But hey, put up the timeslip.
did u put that cam in after of before the turbo install
if u put it in after, did u see a noticable difference
ps. nice times

u say u tuned it ?
how do you tune it if you are running a blue box??
just upped the vac/static fuel pressure????
im confused
sounds intresting thou

This info could help a friend of mine who has a 2000EX with similar mods. His car is dead slow for some reason.
Reid - and when I say dead slow, i mean DEAD SLOW...
