The B16B or any other hydraulic B series FWD transmission will work. Except one from a prelude.
So basically any 92-00 civic and 94-01 integra B series trans will work.

well a B16B trans is geared pretty much the same as a B16A. But it has an LSD.

making your car as powerful as a stock CTR is a pretty low goal and should be easily attained.
what does a CTR dyno stock? 160-165whp? you can do that on the stock block.
my advice? turbo

well dude. If you're building a poor man's type R, then go with the B16A trans. It's close to the 97 spec ITR trans. 4.4 Final drive and nice low gearing. The difference is that the B16A trans has a low 4th and 5th while the ITR has a slightly higher 4th and 5th to keep crusing RPMS down.
But it's not a big deal. Use the B16A trans. It's an AWESOME all motor trans.

Screw the cams, it's an entirely different block.
The B16A uses a diff block than the B16B/B18C (CTR/ITR).
Slapping a CTR transmission on it and CTR cams is not going to make it a CTR.
EDIT:
Even if the B16A and the B16B did use the same block (which I'm pretty sure they don't), you'd have to move the crank/piston/rod assembly over, and slap a CTR head on it.

You're right about the blocks. The CTR head is the same as the ITR/B16A head casting, though.
I think the original question was about transmissions. I'm not sure how it progressed to discussion about heads, cams...blocks....iduno.
OP: Sorry dude. But I just dont understand the question. I'm not trying to be rude, but if you could maybe word your sentences better....and maybe use some punctuation. A comma, period...anything!! lol. I dont get what you're trying to ask. I got the part about the transmissions, but now im not sure what you're relating your later questions to.

well....you could do some mild cams like CTR or ITR cams, use the CTR/ITR valve train. Get an intake manifold, some bolt ons, and you're set. A JDM GSR is what? 180hp? JDM B16A is at 170hp. You simply cant match the B18's torque band with an NA B16A, though. Torque is where your motor will be lacking.
Although, my friend had a pretty well modded ITR swap in his EK (no PS, no AC no cat). VAFC, Lightened flywheel, clutchmasters clutch, AEM V2, Vibrant header, RS-R EXMAG, Chipped P28. His was a 97 CX hatch
I had a B16A with skunk2 manifold, Dc header, ebay CAI, Custom 2.25'' exhaust with vibrant muffler (freaking too loud), I kept my cat because I'm an air breather, VAFC. I kept my PS and AC. Mine was a 99 DX hatch.
He would beat me off the line, but when we raced from a 45mph roll (both in VTEC), We were dead even till like 75mph or so. Then he slowly pulled away.
If you get a B16 cranked, it makes awesome power. Especially over the GSR ...since the B16A head will flow better. Just work on the motor's strengths. Tune for high end. Dont worry about the low end, because you will NEVER get it.
