i didnt do these steps as yet can this cause it.

Install the starter. Connect the cables to the starter. Connect the lock-up control solenoid valve and shift control solenoid valve connectors. Connect the speed sensor connectors and the transaxle ground cable. Connect the transaxle cooler hoses to the joint pipes

The auto tranny needs ATF to operate. The clutch packs are engaged by oil pressure. No oil = no gear.

i got the car running today, i pour way too much ATF could this cause harsh shifting? also im using dexron 3, i cannot move the shifter out of park unless i stick the key in that slot and move it. also if i try to put the car in park with it running i can hear the tranny making noises like if something is caught of hooking inside the tranny, maybe this is the reason y the flex plate broke, all other gears are fine.

fluid is at proper level shifting improved just a bit, maybe the tranny is wrone out.

Lots of people have told about harsh shifting when using Dexron in place of Honda ATF. Honda says use Dexron as an emergency temporary substitute.

You can also put in an additive to help with the harsh shifting but, I strongly recommend going with Honda ATF.

If you can put the tranny back into park and it grinds and all you need to check to make sure your axles are locked into the transmission properly. If the lock pin dosen't go in right during the install the axles can slip out causing this....I've experienced this first hand.

did you turn the converter three times before you bolted it to the flex plate? and you bolted the flex plate up to the motor right?
