just rebuilt a b18c1 with crower rods and 81.25mm wiseco pistons
reused oil pump (person i built it for didnt want to buy a new one)
it has 3 bar and 880's on a basemap so it barely holds an idle, anything below 1,000 rpms and oil dummy light turns on, anything over 1,200 rpms and it goes off, inbetween it blinks off and on
what could it be that gets oil pressure when above 1200rpm but oil light is on below that or flickers
changed oil and filter and no metal or anything, all looks good

probably an obvious thing to guess, but has the car been bottomed out? could have messed up the pan>pick-up, or maybe the pickup itself is the problem

has moroso pan with 5.5 quarts of oil and pan is in perfect shape as well as pick up, i dont know how that would keep pressure low when at idle, im kinda stumped and i guess im going to have to tear it down and see what i can find
Oil squirters fall out? Losing oil through a bearing or something? Just throwing out ideas. Might not be a pump/pickup problem. You did use a new gasket on the pickup right?

just popped in another oil pump and checked clearences and they were all within spec on both pumps, would not having enough oil make the oil pressure light come on? i put in 5.5 quarts but who knows, the bottom end looks great and if this didnt fix the problem idk what im going to do
add the additional oil and see what happens I had a similar problem with mine when I built it and put it together. I forgot to install the little Allen head bolt under the intake cam by the Dizzy no oil pressure until 1500 RPM

well i put in the new oil pump and it was perfect for like 5 minutes, and then all of a sudden the oil light starts flashing on and off... this thing has me dumbfounded
oil setup
moroso oil pan (aluminum 5.5quarts)
golden eagle sandwhich adapter
oil pressure switch is in stock locatioin
oil line ran from sandwhich to the turbo
again it was perfect for like 5 minutes and then the oil light flickers on and off, im going to go check the oil again and see what that does

Dont worry about that oil light...get a oil pressure gauge in there and tell us what PSI you have at Idle. As long as you are above 10psi at really low idle you are ok. 15-20PSI would be ideal. These numbers are when the car is hot...when the car is cold the number will be much higher. At WOT the car should be around 70+PSI. IF you have to much clearance in your bearing then you could be losing some oil pressure there. Shim the pump if youo have to but figure how much oil pressure you have first.

ya i have a feeling im going to have to rig up a oil pressure gauge and do it like that, its just weird that its perfect when cold but as soon as it warms up it loses oil pressure
what psi does the oem sensor go off at?
would running a thicker oil help, were running 5w30 in it right now
the bearings were perfect, nothing in the oil, no strange noises, im just dumbfounded

oil pressue will drop when the car gets hot. The hotter it gets the lower the oil pressure goes. I dont like to rely on the factory sensors. If you know what kind of PSI you are getting then you will be ok using the PSI's numbers I gave you. Using thicker oil will probably help but you will lose some horsepower....if it's all motor, dont run thicker oil but if it's turbo, then you should be using thicker oil in the first place.

took oil feed off turbo and it seems to have plenty of pressure when squirting into a bottle... lol does that help any?

You should be getting 60 psi warm with 50 being the minimum....

we had the same problem on one of our race crx with a moroso pan and it was the oil pickup tube, it was to deep in the pan by the baffel and didn't produce enough pressure, so we put on a stocker pickup and problem fixed.
double check the squirters under the cam are still there

low Pressure; Did you lube the little bypass plunger in the oil pump before assembly? I have seen a bypass get stuck on moe than one person.
