track day.
track day.
Start with dialing in your custom alignment. I made mine bite into the corners several notches higher than when I first bought the car. I love the way it handles now.
It took me going back to my alignment guy 4 times to get it dialed in, but its great now, and I really got to understand the car and where the best values were for my driving situation and style. As it turns out, for some of the parameters I went to less aggressive than stock, and for others more aggreseive than stock. I flattened out some of the rear camber to keep the tires more in contact with the ground. I increased the caster for better high speed handling. And I removed some toe to free up the car a bit. I don't think the stock settings are very good as compared for example with my corvette, which was great handling right off the lot. If you are interested I can share specific numbers with you.
Don't put a track alignment (e.g. UK specs) on your car unless the track is where you want it to handle, as it will handle worse on the street and also wear out your tires faster too.
After alignment, you might consider some chassis stiffener bars. I have a few and love them all. I haven't yet gotten to springs yet, either the sway bars or the coils. I think a bigger sway bar set would be good, and I'm going to try that next, and try to keep the stock springs. Down the road I'm considering Bilstein PSS9's as I've always liked how bilsteins work on my other cars. And I think when the 215/245 RE050s wear out I'll go 225/255 maybe RE050As.
But the custom alignment is great investment and the best bang for the buck. You will really notice the difference, and, you will need to have this dialed in if you do other supsension mods too, if you really want to get the benefit out of them.

I agree that a performance alignment is a great bang for your buck...but shouldnt you learn how to just drive the car first?
and
??? your AP2 alignment was too agressive?
If you cant outhandle a corvette S2000 stock to stock, you were cursed with some real bad driving skills. I hate bench racing...but...cmon....
Flattening out rear camber? there wasnt that much to start with. The tires have LESS contact with the road with "flattened out" camber when you're cornering. Camber gain, brozef, camber gain. Negative camber allows the whole tire to come in contact with the road under cornering loads instead of folding onto the sidewall.
The factory toe in was there to keep the car stable. What do you mean "free it up"? I mean...i can hear applying some toe out to make the car more tail happy, but that totally de-stablizes it. Any high speed stability gained from the extra caster is thrown way out the window with rear toe out. I feel ya, though. I like kinda SLIGHTLY sliding the car into a good spot instead of waiting for the front wheels to take me through. That's usually how i drive at the track. But I kept my freaking toe in. The car over steers much more than other cars as is.
I guess you might just have a really different driving style or something....

You realize that a car handles better with ballast weight opposite the driver?
Once again,

yea i know that i have to become a better driver but i wanted to know how to get better handling anyway so thanks guys sry that i have not been keeping up with the post
What are you planning on? A track machine? street machine with better handling? looking cooler because you modified a car (j/k)?!? I would definitely recommend better driving like everyone else though, because power is nothing without control. But the rest depends on your plans.
Evolution Driving School was the best handling improvement I ever spent money on. Plus, it a mod that actually moves with me from car to car.
