Greddy SP Exhaust Question
Ok the deal is that I can pick up a Greddy SP exhaust but it's for a 88-91 CRX and I was wondering if I have to mod it in any way to fit my 89 Civic HB. If I do can you please tell me where I would have issues, TIA.

No,unless you can have it made a custom length for your application.
I personally put a civic exhaust on the crx, what i did was take the civic and crx b-pipes on the ground next to each other, then from there its pretty self explanitory

ok, i have a greddy sp1 exhaust on my crx. originally i had it on my hatch then i took it off and it was then cut and welded at the pipe where the resonator is, i think it was shortened by 4 inches. and then it was also cut about another 3 inches at the pipe that wraps around the fuel tank. so urs might need to added in those areas to fit ur hatch.
Thanks alot guys exactly what i needed to know. Debating still if I should get it and then take it to a shop, or dish out $600CDN for a brand new SP2 which is made for my HB. Again thanks for the info

Where the length has to be added is just to the rear of the resonator located on the B-pipe. It will be close to 6 or 7 inches. If you add it to the cat then the mounts where it connects to the hangers would not line up.

I say sell your CRX one and buy the correct one for your HB. By the time you paid somebody to cut and re weld yours it would cost maybe just a little less than the HB version that bolts right up and still looks pretty w/o any hacked up welds
. It depends on the condition of your CRX exhaust but if it's in good enough condition you should be able to sell it for a decent amount to help cover the HB one. I have the Sp2 on my REX (and love it) and I just hate to think about cutting it up and disrupting the perfect flow it already has

The rear muffler and B pipe should be eactly the same...Although the hangers on the B pipe need to be relocated. You'll probably have to extend it a few inches as well.
That's what I had to do with the Greddy MX exhaust I got that was on a hatch which is now on my CRX

I agree about the hacked up welds part. Some shops do a crappy job and it will make it look horrible. However, it'll be under the car, nobody will know. It won't affect power either.
However, it should only cost about $20 bucks at any reputable muffler shop to extend it. Not nearly as much as you implied!
If it was my car: I'd get the correct one.
