B16A EF VSS Problem...
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for this problem I've got....I have an 88 EF with a b16a obd1 (Integra XSi obd1 with PR3 obd1 ecu) Since this is a race car, I wanted to get rid of alot of the wire clutter and I had Rywire (great guys) make me a custom race harness (straight from ecu to engine, no interior harness).........my car wont engage in vtec and I'm pretty confident that my problem lies with my vss seeing as how I have no interior harness and no plugs/wires going to speedo.......Is it possible for me to use an electronic vss and eg gauge cluster or would it be better for me to stick with cable vss and wire up a wire going from the ef cluster to the ecu....Like I said, I have absolutely no interior wiring....altho, I just picked up an interior harness from the junkyard so I could find the plug and wire needed.....In addition to this I just picked up a socketed p28. My plan is to chip it with crome and disable the vtec speed check along with everything else I can disable....thanks for your help guys....

The VSS should not affect Vtec. I ran my crx b16 with no speedo and vtec worked fine. You should check your main things needed for vtec.
Vtec selnoid
Oil pressure switch
Knock sensor

you need the vss signal for the vtec to engage on stock ecu's..
since this is a race car, what i would do is get a electic vss and hook it up to an autometer mph gauge,it automatically senses with a electric vss after a couple miles of driving.
Or have the ecu chipped to not give a damn about the speed.
