replacing rotors 1994 accord
Front rotors are due, I've heard that I'll need to replace the bearings. If this is true any info would be helpful...old style, not floating new type
Well you can find how to replace it at the Accord FAQ. Under 97 Accord Front brake tutorial.
As for the bearing, I didn't change mine. But if you're experiencing some noise or if you think your wheel bearing is going out, I would change it. Mine had no problems.
Hub over rotor sucks bad, if you think you want to replace the front bearing, you might as well do the rotor over hub (new types as you say)

I did a write up on the rotor over hub conversion. If you want some pics on how to change your rotors, you can check out my conversion thread. It shows you the basic steps on how to remove the hub. Once the hub is out, remove the 4 bolts that hold the rotor on, clean the hub surface and then bolt the new rotor back on.

You know.... I've had my 92 accord for a little while.. I've worked on cars for 15 years now, and I've never had brake rotors in the rear give me so much trouble with taht gigantic ABS sensor, the impossible to reach nuts that hold the caliper bracket on, and general stupid design before. Now I see that the front rotors are even MORE retarded. expletive honda and their stupid accords. I like the car, but honestly I'd rather own a buick century becuase it's easier to work on.
Well dissing Accords are not the best thing to do in this forum. But I got have to say, 4 and 5th gen Accord brake systems are the worst to work on. But they do last long. I didn't have to replaced mine 10 yrs from the original buy date. But 4th and 5th gen Accords are one of the strongest Accords.
I work on lots of diffrent cars on a daily basis. selling an accord for a century is a bad idea. Yes, they are easier to service the brakes on, but thats about it. if you like changing intake manifold gaskets, and rear shocks, and front wheel bearings, then by all means, go get one.
yah u can get a buick but keep one thing in mind go to any mechanic shop and just look at what cars are being worked on, and see how many hondas are in that shop.

That's a very broad generalization, imo. Most cars I see in shops in my neck of the woods are American cars,i.e. Fords andChevys.A friend of mine says that were he lives(about 30-35 miles away) he sees mostly Benz's.No offense, but I think your arguement is a bit weak.
And how do you know that they aren't in the shop for routine maintenance or upgrades instead of malfunctions?

They're also a common wear item. ie, something that was designed to be replaced fairly frequently. I have an SVX, the weird, super rare subaru. Know what? Even on that car, where everything is unique and strange, the brakes were easy to work on. My 89 accord? Easy to work on. All my previous cars? Easy to work on. The simple fact that this car is designed NOT to be worked on the average joe turns me off completely. I'm selling it and getting a prelude, I think, I found one an 89 Si with 4WS. Know what? It doesn't have retarded brakes either. This 92 was a hand me down, I learned how to drive in it back when I was 16 in 1995, and it's been in my family for years, but this is the last straw. Screw this stupid car. Whoever designed the brake system on this car needs to be dragged out into the street, shot, and stuffed into a dumpster.
Ummm . . . okay. Enjoy the Buick. Good thing it's easy to work on because you'll be doing it often. I know this from personal experience. Also, good luck on the Prelude 4WS. Who wants to take bets on how long it takes for him to throw a 4WS error code?
Meh. Whatever, I scored THIS for $1600, and it handles WAY WAY WAY better than the 92 accord, is much faster, a lot more fun to drive, has working A/C, new tires, new springs, new struts, and an absolutely mint interior with a pretty awesome exterior.
1990+ accords are a waste of time. Why bother owning a car with a design that makes it a huge PITA to change something as simple as a brake rotor? Good riddance.

ok, how does someone asking for help turn into this? They asked for help, was shown where to find info on how to do it, it should have ended there unless they had additional questions. It should not have gone into a domestic vs import or which Honda is better or faster.
to the OP, there are many threads that discuss the changing of the front rotors. Use the search to search through the archives and recent threads as well as check the Accord FAQ for write-ups on how to do this yourself.
