Is there any way to increase the life of the automatic transmission? Thanx

Yeah also dont Turbo or Nitrous the Auto tranny wont hold I found out the hard way...LOL

 

Maintain it, do not drive it like a 5spd (shifting the gears from 1-2-D) to accelerate, treat your car well and it will do the same for you, plus Honda's transmissions are virtually indestructible.

eeehhhhh... I've heard alot about the 7th gen auto's going bad... glad I have manual

As why i am doing my auto to manual swap..the cvt trans suck *** regarless.

 

cvt's only came in hybrids didnt they? not the regular models.

 

Yeah, I heard about the 7th-gen autos breaking down. Is it cuz of overheating, or just crappy built?

 

my auto tranny(01 acura el aka civic ex) lasted 242,000 kms (152,000 miles) before it abruptly died. Ive since swaped it to a manual. I have read that there was a recall or bulletin regarding the auto trannys slipping. There was a bad batch that came from philadelphia. Honda told me at 160,000 kms(when it started slipping) to sell the car b/c if I swapped in another auto it would eventually happen again. But 242,000kms is pretty good. No problems since, now I have 260,000.

Most likely abuse or failure to maintain.

how much will that cost

 

i think it's about ~$1000 give or take when all is done

 

I have an auto ex tranny. It also went out on me at 105k. regardless of maintaining it the tranny will go out. it was reviewed on 7thgen. esp. 2001-2002. rarely last over 100K. Im in search of a auto tranny so if anyone has an lx,dx, hx, or ex please pm thanx
