Turbo or All Motor??
I have no clue where to post this but hopefully this is the right spot. I have a 93 Honda Civic Hatchback with a Type R in it. I don't know if I should turbo it or go all motor.......I just wanna hear some feedback from both sides and some input so let me know what I should do. Thanks!
Do a nice headpackage with some higher CR pistons, tune it, install a 4.928FD of some sort (ATS, M-Factory, SRR if you can find one), and a nice header, intake, and exhaust. You'll have a blast running 12s with 200whp or so, with tight gearing.
Plus, it's all motor reliable, so you'll never have to work on it... Unless you screw up and forget that when you're at top of third gear, you're supposed to go into fourth, and NOT second.
That's my personal opinion.

That's my plan, no turbo or supercharger.

Yeah thats what I figured. I do need a reliable car to get me from point A to point B so I figured not take the chance with the turbo and all the problems if there are that many to deal with.

What are you talking about? You can build a nice setup for under $3,000. He's talking about stock engine, so I don't think he'd need a $2,400 GT4780R or anything.

I guess I'm the only one the voted Turbo
To do everything right even with a cheaper kit will run you around 4kish (Using peakboost turbosetup as reference)after tune etc. Thats if you can do the work yourself.

I don't understand why anyone would swap in a Type-R engine, only to boost it... You can build a B-Series to handle boost, for a LOT cheaper than buying a stock Type-R engine.

^ Agree, after your done building the motor etc, you pretty much have a reinforced GS-R which is what you should start with if your buying a swap. Save the cash and put the rest toward the turbo kit.

im really new to all this, but just thought id add in my plan on my type r. im already running i/h/e and im planning on throwing in diff cam shafts for a bit more power. you dont need too much when u have a type r. i take out wrx's srt4s with my 4dr ek b18c5. there isnt too much need for a 10second car if you need it to get you from point a to point b then back to point a without using a whole tank of gas. thats just my opinion
I've been researching/considering different setups since I got my car 16 months ago, and I've finally settled on my plans.
