Having trouble starting
Hello HT. I have a 1990 EF and it seems to not want to start a lot of the time. It seems to do this when the engine it warm, starts up cold just fine. The car is completely stock, I just bought it. I am getting a spark but I think it may not be getting fuel. Maybe a sensor or fuel pump? Sorry if this has been covered before, I just want to make sure that I buy the right part.
Sounds like your main relay is going out. It is located behind your coin pocket on your drivers side. Try to listen for a click before you start the car..... You can replace it or re-solder the joins inside the relay itself.
Also you can unbolt (sort of a pain to get to) and take off the relay cover. If there is brown residue on the motherboard (green), then it is going out. GL
Ok, reporting again.
I changed the main relay and I still am having the problem. It happens usually after I have driven the car recently, then let it set for a short while. I'm getting no check engine light. Another thing is, sometimes it will crank and just not start, but sometimes the engine just makes a grinding sound (think grinding gears) and nothing will turn.
