Default 2007 CRV SRS light

Hey everyone! Fairly new to the forum, haven't had any useful input as this is our first Honda we've owned. Love the '07 so far although we've had the SRS light come on twice now. The first time they reset it at the dealership and said it was due to aftermarket hand controls being put on. I don't see how this can have anything to do with the problem, but I guess they have to have an excuse for the problem. It recently came back on a couple of days ago. Anyone had a similar problem? Not just with the '07 but any other years?
Input would be appreciated!!
Mike

What code is it giving when they check it? I don't think hand controls are going to affect the SRS system unless there is some kind of electronic control associated with it. Describe the system or post a picture so I can see what system you have.

The hand control system is purely mechanical, no electrical components whatsoever. The only thing that was changed in the install is that the fusebox cover is left off. He would've had to cut it to put back on so he decided to leave it off. Not sure what code was up, I'll see if it's on my repair receipt.

There is no ground on the hand control system. He would've had to cut the fusebox COVER. He left it off so I would still have the whole piece in case I were to sell the vehicle in the future.

What exactly does this "hand control system" do? If it is "purely mechanical" why is the fuse box cover off?

The hand control system is used to control the acceleration and braking of the vehicle with your hands. The bar is directly connected from under the sterring wheel to the brake with a solid rod so a push of the lever will push on the brake pedal. The solid rod attaches above the brake pedal so the fuse box cover needed to be removed to allow room for the rod to be attached to the brake.

I'm not handicapped, my wife is disabled. The system is totally bolt on, nothing was removed or tampered with, only the fuse box cover was removed like I said. All I said was that this was Honda's excuse for the light coming on. They didn't even know what the problem was. They reset the light and it didn't come back on their test drive. All I want to know is if someone has had a similar problem.

Thanks for the reply and I will try to take some pictures tomorrow and post them. Can you upload photos to this site or do you need somewhere to host them?
