i have heard that the thing with the ls motors was that the bottem end can't handle all the high reving like a gsr, type r, or si motors. is this true? i have a freind that is putting together a ls/vtec and i was wondering what type of bearings to use. by bearings i mean CRANK, MAIN and ROD bearings what type and for what motor do you get them from gsr, type r, si, or just use stock ls bearings.

 

i've heard the same as you.

 

use bearings made for the ls im pretty sure. im not 100 percent though.

 

use the factory bearings for the crank, rod mains. if its a ls block use ls bearings si use si bearings etc. also make sure you get all the codes figurred out correctly or ull spin one real quick.

 

well i've heard that king RACE bearings are real good and handle a lot of power i would recomend those

Bearings arent the problem that everyones afraid of. Its the rod bolts. Alot of people upgrade to ARP rod bolts just for extra insurance

 

he is building it pretty soon so ARP rod bolts and king race bearings is what he needs. i told him since he is going to rebuild it atleast put high compression pistons, cause he is going all motor i thought it would only help. what about the ARP head studs, should he see about those also? me personally vtec bottem end with vtec head is the only way to go.
