Default BUILD A D16Y7 As strong as can beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

How do I make my BS D16Y7 As strong as possible, escpecially in performance. Not going turbo , Supercharger or nos. Just curious to know how far you can mod a D16Y7. Any suggestions or ideas? What have all you SOHC people done to your engine to get maximum performance?

u can do the same things the dohc kids do. u said no nos turbo or supercharger so that would mean all motor. hmm..new rods, hig comp pistons, maybe a vtec head swap, vtec intake manifold, huge cam, etc etc, same principles,

I'm just about to hit 14's with my sohc vtec all motor, one more mod, and I'll be in for sure!!!
15.0 is the best right now, with I/H/E, fuel pressure, ignition, strip interior, no p/s, with a/c(soon to go). The sohc vtec engine is amazing, there way too much stuff you can do to it, without dropping $4000 for a B18c1. I'm not bashing b series engines here, they are amazing too, but when your a student, it abit harder to find money, other than for school.

D series connecting rods are somewhat weaker than B series... I'd keep it under 200 horsepower for durability.

that's bizi ezerio's car (don't know if i spelled it right) that motor is no longer a 1.5 prolly closer to 2.0 its bored and stroked and has alot of other tricks. chk out this board its dedicated to the d-series http://pub34.ezboard.com/bhondadseries. before u do anything ditch the crappy lx trans and get an ex trans that will help alot. there is a guy called builthatch on this board and on the other chk him out he has built the y7 and the y8. another sugestion build a mini-me, get a vtec head from a z6 or a y8 and bolt that on to your bottom.

Bolting a y8 head will improve performance? Dont you need to replace the throttle body and intake manifold too? If you need to just replace the head then I think thats what I'm going to do.

Valve cover configurations on the D motors varied from the fifth generation to the sixth generation. This appears to be a fifth generation, with oil cap in the front and spark plugs in the back.
