Default HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have a 91 crx that already has a b18a1 out of a integra but i was readin and it only has like 130 hp stock. i dont think that is very much. also idk how to tell what tranny it has? i didnt do the swap and the person i bought it from didnt know either. my gears seem really short compared to my dads eclipse.

i was wondering if it would be better to rebuild the b18a1 or do another engine swap? and if its better to swap then what should i go to? and what tranny do i get?

im kinda new to the whole honda swap stuff since im only 17 and idk anything bout them. all i know is what i read from posts and stuff. so if you could HELP ME PLEASE before i get into it this winter.

also it already has eibach sportline springs but it sits SUPER low to the ground but it handles really good, should i get coilovers or just but better struts?

usually when a thread is titled HELP ME!!!!!!!!...i expect there to be a problem. maybe if you did some research you could FIND OUT what YOU think would be best.

emm read up on LS/VTEC. Don't go coil overs;and unless your experiencing a hard bang when hitting a substantial bump at speed you probably don't need struts. Although, if your lowered with original struts you need or will need some after market struts soon. I suggest KYBs as they are good for what you pay for em.

i know that you would think that it would be a problem and it KINDA IS...lol. im sorry but its so hard to find what your lookin for without lookin at 968 posts. but i started lookin. but idk what would be best.

i live in a non-tuner town, like even the cops hate it and will just pull you over for nothin. so like i dont have anyone to talk to bout my car and problems. so i dont know anything.

what head should i use for the LS/VTEC swap? and what would i have to do to my bottom end? or ecu? later on when i get the money i would also like to turbo it so like i wanna do evrything now so i dont have to pull the motor again. like idk anything bout anything like this.

also what tranny should i get to bolt up to the b18a1? how do i tell what tranny i got now?

if you want turbo, go turbo. dont waste your money on an LS/VTEC.

Not to sound like a broken record but search next time before making a thread. The lackluster performance of stock honda's has been covered more then once. Also the 'ohnoez i lowered mah car too much!' has been addressed as well.

if i just went straight turbo then i would still have the crappy head on my b18 but if i went LS/VTEC then turbo i would have a better head and turbo.

wouldnt that be better then just straight turbo?

this is exactly why you need to search around. i could spoon feed you all the info about why LS/VTEC sucks but im not going to.

Look around in the all-motor and forced induction forums for a while. Building or boosting a motor properly requires a lot of research, you can't just go throwing parts at an engine and expect it to be fast or run well for that matter.

You could leave that engine entirely stock and do a mild boost setup to get near 200HP. It all depends on what your goals are for the car.

I agree if you want to go turbo don't do LS/VTEC and wiZCo is right too....research is a major and probably the most important part of building a good engine

dont go ls/vtec especially if ur new to hondas. keep the LS b18a. it will be fine. although if u really want a nice swap with good power. get an GSR (b18c) it has the 1.8L abd vtec like an ls/vtec and u get great reliability. also as far as the tranny. shorter gears give u better acceleration as u know but if u want longer gears get an LS tranny. oh and turbo is way expensive so be prepared to pay alot. well just some ideas. good luck

Everything that is in the HONDA SWAP GUIDE is here on Honda Tech you just have to be willing to eat it for yourself instead of being spoon fed.

this statement tells me that you arent ready to do a swap. either have a professional do it for you, or research ALOT before you attempt it.

im gonna do the swap with my dad. he can do anything on a v8 and he also wants to learn stuff bout imports but idk how much v8 stuff carries over. thats why im doin all of the research and stuff and hes gonna help me build it this winter.

if i bought a b18c, can i still use a ys1 from my b18a1? or do i have to stick with the hydrolic tranny?

how do i tell if my car is OBD0 or OBD1?

if you're not going to take our advice, then there is nothing more we can do for you. research is the only thing thats going to help you. by "research" i dont mean askin us every question you think of, i mean searching, reading, and asking only the questions you cant find an answer for yourself.

best of luck to you

got any pics of your motor/car?

doing the swap yourself is a great learning experiance and is very rewarding if it all works

good luck..oh and i would concentrate on reliability before worrying about horsepower
