Default what size slicks to run safely...

i was just wondering what size slicks do you recommend running with... i was debating to use 24's or 22's because im trying not to break anything at the track but didnt know if 22's were to small to be running with around 450-480 whp...

considering the hp levels you are at, the 22s will easily spin in most cases.

for that HP level, you need at least a 24.5x8.5x13
That is the right size for that power.

there is no guarantee. you can break a transmission or axles with street tires launching at a stop light. Its a chance, you can go with a full season without breaking anything with 22s or 24s, but theres guys that have broken something at the first run.

I say, get the 24s, run a slightly higher tire pressure so it spins a little and doesnt hook up as "hard" and go with that. reduces the stress on the drivetrain with a little spin

the range is usually 7-8psi. if youre not ready to hook hard yet, run it a little higher at 9-10psi. work your way down if you feel its spinning too much. dont have to run at super low psi right away.
back in 1999 or so, I had a single cam only making 140 to the wheels all motor and i had a 22x8x13 slick. The car couldnt push a tire with super low PSI, so I ran it at around 12-13psi and it was still able to get a good 1.7 60ft.
