I just bought a white 1990 automatic sedan w/ 197k mi. for $350 to drive in the winter b/c I have a DC project that is getting painted soon. I got the EF cheap from a friend b/c it is smoking pretty bad (piston rings I assume) and shifts hard in the cold until it gets warmed up then it drives nice, (changed tranny fluid) didn't help.
Anyway, this thing might run for a few thousand more mi. (just gotta keep feeding her oil) or it could die today on my way home from work.
The exterior is in pretty good shape (minimal rust) and the maroonish interior is pretty mint so I would hate to junk it when it dies plus I'll still need a winter car.
Although it would be fun and awsome to do an auto to to standard LS conversion I just don't feel like putting that kinda money into a winter car so the most I would do is a new d series.
So my question to you is what would you do ?
-wait until it dies and look for a swap? probly have a grand in it minimum when its done. would it be worth it?
-put it up for sale to see if theres any interest and look for a new ride?
-put in a K and call it a day?

I love the EF but as far as I'm concerned its a $350 winter beater so I'm not sure if I want to put hundreds more into it.

Just curious b/c I know its gunna take a **** on me someday.

Man . . . not even one suggestion, opinion, other options, or even a little flame.

I could have swore that this was the EF thread and that some people in here would have interest in EF's and could possibly make a suggestion about my situation. And I thought it was relatively tech related.
