What is your driving style? Daily driving only or do you plan to track/auto-x the car? If you do plan on taking the car to the track do you plan on getting another set of dedicated track tires or do you plan to use 1 set of tires for both street and track? Do you live in an area that gets snow? lots of rain?
These questions need to be answered before anyone can really help you with your question ...
My car is at the verge of being a dedicated track car ... I do however drive it on the street from time to time. I run 2 sets of tires ... one for street and one for track. Tire size is 225-45-17 ...
I highly recommend the Falken Azenis RT615 tire for spirited street driving and auto-x use. This tire can be used for track sessions as well ... it does well for the first few laps until it gets hot ... it then becomes greasy and performance falls off until tire temps drop. I've had no issues with driving in the rain ... this is a very good tire and you can't beat the price. 200 treadwear rating
If you plan on a running a 2nd set of tires for dedicated track use I recommend the Nitto NT-01. Currently running this tire on my car for track sessions ... it is made of the same compound as the Toyo RA-1. Very sticky and responsive. Wear has been very good and it looks to last many weekends on track. Heat cycle the tire before track use ... this will extend the life of the tire. It is DOT legal and can be used on street ... 100 treadwear rating
I ran BF Goodrich G-Force T/A-KDs for a little while ... great grip but I was not impressed with tire wear. They have the same treadwear rating as the RT615, but def did not wear as well ... RT615s seem to able to handle more abuse. Plus the T/A-KD isn't cheap ... would not recommend.
Yokohama AVS ES-100 ... good tire for the money at first ... tire performance seemed to drop of considerably after 1/2 wear. Good in dry conditions and a little scary in wet. Probably would not recommend.
None of these tires will be good choices if you live anywhere that gets snow ...
