My Daily EG Hatch: A Years Story - Lots of Pics
8-30 NEW PIC page 2!
About 1 year ago I ended up picking up this hatch and selling my E36 325i for it, replacing my Bimmer as my daily driver.
The car was in pretty bad shape, despite how it looked cosmetically, when I picked it up for 1200.

First...the suspension needed an overhaul...

These front hubs, off to the machine shop, for new ball joints, wheel bearings, and some Mugen Front LCA bushings.

Bad bad Front LCAs.

Front hubs back from the maching shop, with some OMNI Coilovers and Camber kit.

Rear got an overhaul too...disc brakes, OMNI Coilovers and Rear LCAs.

Back to the apartment for the first time, with the ride height horribly uneven. ROFL.
I swapped a full black interior in to replace the nasty blue interior that was half painted black by the previous owner. Don't have any pics of that though, should have...

A night shot with the EX/Si Lip and dumped.

A shot with Mr. Vapor's old EM1 (I miss seeing that car).
Around early fall time...the old D16Y7 that the previous owner "swapped" into the car developed nasty engine sludge and a bad misfires. Decided to go with a little something to back up the stance of the car.

Built (Rod Piston lower CR), Turbo Ready D16Y8, with a full turbo kit.

New motor in...intercooler mounted, almost ready to start.

BLOX Oil Press. and Boost/Vac Gauges, mounted under the radio.
I god a basemap and drove around without really boosting the motor for about 4 or 5 months. Ended up getting involved with a Honda tuning day, with Xenocron tuning 8 cars in 12 hours. Crazy crazy.

Put down 260whp @ 15-16psi. Not too bad for a SOHC. Very fun on the streets for a daily!
I have some more recent pics that I will upload in a few days.
Thanks for looking!

rock on, good journal... this car MOVES! superlightweight with the Dseries setup too.
ya know, it keeps up with LS1FCs on the highway, well up to 120 at least
makes me kinda sad I never finished up the high-revving all-motor sohc-vtec 4.7-geared EG hatchy that I had all of the parts for but never built, it woulda been a clone of yours right down to the wheels and interior swap.
nice car, you saved it from a sad, sorry, beat up life.
love the coilovers and other susp. goodness.

Nice work, im guessing the head was left stock? pretty decent numbers for 15 psi if so, would definately look into building the head you could see those numbers at 10psi with a beefy head. Nice work none-the-less!
