Awesome driving! that could have been a disaster! When i saw it turning sideways.. i was nervous
some other close encounters but they were saved before they crossed the line! overall an excellent weekend! This car was back out racing within a few hrs!

Yep, I thought that was going to be bad watching it happen. Glad Dee got it stopped in time.
He was funny when he walked back out to the starting area a few minutes later. I heard him say something about "Hey look and make sure I got all of the brown stain off the back of my pants".
Glad that turned out OK.

Thanks!! That made me pucker like you would never believe!! Thanks Julian for the great coverage.
My car has a 10" longer wheel base then my rx7 at 106" inches and the second longest wheel base in the class.
If its long enough for pro stock car then its long enough for modified LOL

Pretty cool, except that there was oil pouring out of the motor. lol

Yeah sorry the radios cut off and i had no idea i had a leak. If it happens again i will make sure i get out right where i sit and take a bow like a true professional.
I was just concerned someone might see the stain in my pants LOL
Although it was 100% my fault i could not help but notice the crew took foever to clean up the couple oil downs we had. In the first Round of qualifying Brent and i had to wait 40mins for the clean up from Kenny and Egum. And to be honest it did not look like they left too much oil.

dee you did an amazeing job at saving your car i was impressed my self. true professional in deed . with that said you should have gotten out to make sure there was no oil leaking in your car. what was the cause or you spin out..? what if you had a fuel leak or a broken turbo feed line spitting oil side ways instead of down the catch pan.. that would have taken hours to clean the whole track from the start to return road.
the indy crew is the same crew that works the powerade events. I dont thing 30-40 mins to insure the saftey of the next set of drivers is a long time. paticence is not always the key but in this case the saftey safari and clean upcrew did a good job in prevents and other mishaps . we had no crashes. i just hope indy will weclome us back next year.

Thanks and I agree with you as i stated in my previous post it was 100% my fault. And i should have gotten out and checked.
The cause of the incident was a rear main seal leak also again 100% my fault.
We work real hard to not oil down the tracks and believe me all pros are embarassed when we do. Next years rules that require a catch pan to extend under the tranny and not just the engine will help even more.
Everyone hates oil downs including myself cause i know what it is like to sit in a suit that is thicker then the one I wore when my mom sent me out in the snow
And i too enjoyed the track and the crew and apoligized to them all personally and gave them each shirts as a token of my appreciation.
But i will stand by my opinion and say the tools and the amount of people that were deployed for the clean ups could have been more efficient.
But of course in a perfect world I would have not put oil on the track.

for excellent driving. at a time where you see your life flash through your eyes as another 7 second car was heading your direction, i can understand not getting out of the car and checking for oil as soon as you gained control.
that noted... any pics of the car? it looks (and sounds) ridiculously awesome.
I spoke with Dee right after it happened and I know it took him 2 hours and a fresh pair of undies before he calmed down.
Good driving Dee and glad to see that rocket wagon is still in one piece. The car looked great all weekend long. Glad to see that tire shack is a thing of the past. Time to turn it up!
