Strut bar. Do you compress or tension?
Hey guys. I just bought a strut bar with adjusting bolts at the end. Similar to ebay. Anyways this is for everyone.
When adjusting the bar, would you guys... pull(tension) the 2 strut towers together or push(compress) them apart?
I know normally people push the 2 towers apart.

the bar i used to have wouldn't stay together if you tried it that way hahaha
there was the bar in the middle, then two nuts on the ends, to get any type of pressure on it, both nuts had to be tightened towards the bar.
my cusco bar now is just 1 piece

If you pull the 2 strut towers together, under cornering, they will come together even more. In that case, it's pointless to have a strut bar. The point of the strut bar is to keep the strut towers from coming together under cornering.
I found this site... http://e30m3performance.com/my...y.htm
I haven't read any of it. But 02 Accord makes a very good point. But then again... Hmmm....
So what do you guys suggest for track use and cornering? Push it apart or pull it together?
How about keeping it neutral? It still connects the bars together, but sets a limit.

I have the same type then. Pushing and pulling creates for, but which one to do. I see in an Auto-X competition. Would you say pulling the 2 towers is better than your 1 piece Cusco?

Although i dislike the desing of neuspeed bar on accords.... has the most effective design by securing the strut towers at different locations, keeping them from flexing. I guess any better than that design, could be something that also mounts againts firewall, which is what v6 models accords usually came with since 5th generation.
As our fellow muffingman mentioned, the car needs to be jacked up so the stress/weight is released from the towers before bolting the strut bars. Once installation is done, tighten the bar towards the center, and put the car back down. One simple mod, IMO very noticeable.
