my tranny just blew this morning in my 01 honda accord lx 4dr. Anyone know how much a used tranny goes for? or where i could get one in san diego?

is car over 109K?

is in service date past 7 years 9 months?


If not take it to honda dealer and they will swap in a new one

 

unfortunately i racked up 114k on the mileage but it's not a salvaged title car. i buoght it at a honda dealership thoe and have had it for 2yrs. do you know by chance how much used trannys go for accords?

 

Depends. From Honda, the tranny replacement will cost $3-4 grand with labor. If you got a junkyard, you can source a used one for around $500 (they're not in high demand) and get a local mechanic to do it for maybe $800?

But you should seriously go ask American Honda to do good-will on the warranty as you're just outside the extended warranty period.

If you say it only has 114k and you bought it from a Honda dealer, you MIGHT get some "goodwill" consideration for some or maybe most, hell, maybe even ALL of the trans. Talk to a dealer service manager and see what they can do.
