Default MK1 steering wheel fitment problem

I've just installed a mk1 steering wheel in my mk2 Crx, but it has some fitment issues.

The steering barely clears the switches, and from waht I've figured it is impossible to adapt any kind of spacer.

To anyone how there who has done this, how can this problem be solved?

Will the mk1 swicthes fit and resolve this issue?

Fotos above show the switches pressed, and below in its regular position (doesn´t even clear the hands... )

Switching the signals pretty much will not work due to the extensive amount of fabrication and custom work needed. The 84-87 wheel is just not designed to fit the 88-91 as you now know. Other than a custom made spacer you pretty much can't run that wheel, why not just get a proper fitting wheel? just about any other wheel from 88-01 civics and integras should work (w/o airbags of course) and there are pretty much endless amounts to choose from

yeah change the wheel, that would suck with the switches that close to the steering wheel. not practical at all

Well, that might be true. But a sight like this one is, in my opinion, just to good to throw away:

I love that!!!!! Keep it! How much thread is left on the bolt when you tighten it down?? If there is enough, maybe just an aluminum spacer would work. A half inch may still not be enough, though.

Can you provide a picture with the horn cover taken off?
