Default What does Vas mean?

I looked up on a website and they said the Vas for the Rockford Fosgate was 2.1 ft3. Does that refer to the amount of airspace it needs?

Default Re: What does Vas mean? (schwinn)

Vas: The volume of air having the same compliance, or ease of movement, as the suspension (surround, spider, etc.) of a speaker driver, i.e. a driver with a loose suspension will have a higher compliance and low Vas.

to answer your question, no it doesn't necessarily refer to the amount of airspace.
