just picked up a 98 ej civic and want a greddy evo catback exhaust
so yeah just picked up this car. it has a stock d16y8 and want some horsepower and thought the greddy was a good way of getting that horsepower i want. so i know many places to get it but it's looking kinda pricey and just wanted to see if anyone has a used one or if i could get a hook up on it. thanks
check the marketplace..probably your best best
not to knock the d series cause i have the same motor..but you arent going to see much of a power gain with a catback exhaust. even with intake, header, highflow cat, catback exhaust, better cam, valves, springs, etc..you're lucky if youd see like 160 whp

The day a d-series makes 160 whp with bolt ons and a cam is the day monkeys fly out of my butt.
Maybe 115-120whp
And that's just being nice.

I would save the money and put it into some security or suspension. Maybe even just leave it how it is until you decide what the plans for the car are. Just my .02
way to kill my dreams. jk. yeah i know i can't make the best horsepower off an exhaust, but it will be nice for a daily driver. especially the freeways i take all the time. i'm getting a turbo catback for a reason and that would be for the b18 that's coming soon
Hehe... just trying to make you question yourself to see if its really something you need or something you just want. Dont let it burn a hole in your pocket. You could be that much close to the swap or have your car protected. Security is going to have to be part of the picture... the sooner the better.
With a d-series you'll probably be faster with stock exhaust and intake parts. Hardly any power can be extracted from them without a significant increase in air/fuel or changing the cam.
For example, there's a user that frequents this forum. He tried to make a big bad n/a d-series just to prove a point. He's now spent what it would cost to buy a gsr swap from h motors and makes less power than a gsr swap. He's not very pleased
