Default What kind of oil

Ok, i have a question, my motor burns oil at high rpm's

the guy before me used mobil1 5w-30 full synth

i was wondering, is there really a difference with the 10w and 5w?

what do u guys use? i was thinking maybe mobil 1 synthetic blend 10w30 or maybe ams oil 10w30, or i will continue to use 5w30..

just wanted to see what you guys or girls ran out there..

oh! and i heard that the motor wont rev as fast, run as good with 10w30 compared to 5w30

I always ran 10w30 (mobil 1) in both my civics w/o any problems.

My friend runs 15w50 in his and he hasn't had any problems...and he's had his at least a year now and beats the **** out of it daily (GSR 6th gen hatch).

It's a matter of letting it warm up longer b4 you "rip madd VTAK."

How high RPM are we talking about - what motor?

I'm thinking of switching to that. I just bought a good 3 oil-changes worth today (to do the one "change flush", then replace).

Sorry to get off topic.

jdm b16...anyways I don't notice a difference no, but I just do it because it gets pretty cold here in the winter. I don't know if it really matters but it's just what I do.

Ha, yeah, I'm pretty sure you're right.

Thin oil for cold start, thick for running - at standard operating temp they act teh same in terms of viscosity/lubrication.

Everybody in my area runs 15w50 or 10w40..but there's very few 4 bangers and even less Hondas.

In any event, 10w30/5w30 should act the same once the car is warmed up.
