Questions b4 purchasing 5th gen.
Hi guys, brand new to these forums, though i have been lurking for a few weeks.
I have been looking into buying a prelude, and recently test drove one. The NADA price on this vehicle is almost dead on for the condition (its a 99, non-SH, 80k miles 5-speed)
The test drive went fine, took it to 85 without any problems, alignment was almost perfect and no shake at that speed. However, the carfax has 20 records.
I have not ordered a complete history report, but was wondering if 20 records is something i should be scared of?
Fyi, the lad is asking 9,000 for the car. Let me know what you guys think, any input would be beneficial.

lol carfax needs to make money too. i found a WHOPPING 16 records on my salvage vehicle. when my buddy got carfax, i piggybacked it to search. 15 were maintenance records (good things) and 1 was the wreck that made it salvage.
for carfax having 99% complete record
for carfax making me poo my pants w/ red font saying i have 16 records.
dont take my word for it tho, those records CAN be bad.

If you know anyone looking for a car, split the cost of the unlimited carfax report. I agree with dagle, though about 20 not necessarily being a bad number. At least when I checked mine out, there were quite a few records for it passing emissions. Also, You'll be able to see when it's transferred ownership. If it has recently gone through a few owners, there might be something major wrong with it.. I'd get the carfax before buying. Just my .02.
