Default Major boost creep issues, Tial 38mm too small?

Well now that I finally have my car running right, I am having major boost creep issues.

9.0:1 B16, T61 HO, Synapse ramhorn, 3" downpipe, 3" exhaust, Tial 38mm WG

I am trying to run 12 psi but I can not get it to hold it at all. It creeps to like 15-16 psi and then I get scared and let off because I don't want to blow my motor.

I'm thinking that the Tial 38mm is too small for how big my turbo is? How do I resolve this? My manifold is flanged for a 38mm, do I just cut it off and weld on a flange for a 44mm or something?

What about the Synapse WG, it's 40mm, maybe it will work?

Larger turbine wheels generally need a larger wastegate for lower boost levels. I would switch to a 44mm if you plan on running those boost levels

Yeah but how do I go about switching to a 44mm? Do I cut the flange off my manifold and have a new one welded on?

if you want, send it back well throw a 44mm flange on there free of charge.

I'm having a very similar issue. .6bar spring, AVC-R is turned off, I'm creeping to anywhere between 12-15psi.

38mm Tial with CCfab ported ramhorn.

do you have a boost pressure chart? or datalogg. does the wastegate open at around 12psi then slowly go to 15 at the upper rpms, or does it go right to 15-16.

have you taken the boost controller out and seen how much boost it makes on the spring alone?

im 100% sure it's not a wastegate issue. its a AVCR issue......

i had a manual controller with the 38mm gate and it was no problem. switched to the AVCR and it creeps uncontrollably over 6500rpm all the time. no matter what settings are used.

switched back to the manual controller....no problem!

the AVCR works OK on some setups but not all.......good luck.

I'm 100% sure it's not. I know how to use an AVC-R, unlike 95% of the people out there who are too lazy to read the instructions and think logically.

We have a customer that had a 38 mm Turbosmart on his turbo S2000 making about 470hp with a 14 psi spring that would go to 22 psi. He put the Synapse 40mm WG on and with the lowest setting, he was getting 11 psi and 22 psi at the highest setting with no pre-load adjustment and the largest valve seat. Absolutely no creep according to the tuner in VA.

I know that it isn't a Tial WG that was on there, but all the same, it is just another legacy diaphragm wastegate in the 38 mm size. No diaphragms on the Synapse WG.
