Hey everyone I got a very good deal on some mickey thompson slicks. They are 26 by 8.5 in a 15" and I was just going to throw them on my stock 15" rims.

Now the question I have is the 26" is obviously taller (more sidewall). Is there a noticeable difference between how my car will perform if I was to run the 26's over the 24.5's. THe car will be run at 16psi not the 8psi im running now so it will definatly be making more than 307whp.

THe only thing I see being different is the effect it will have on my top end, and that the taller slick will make it easier to avoid wheel hop. Correct me if I am wrong, or will I even notice a difference. Help me out, all advice is welcome like the pros and cons of both sizes, im very new at this, and very sick of running crappy street tires.

Those 26" tires are too big for anything under ~500whp. They hook like there's no tomorow, but you also need the power to pull them. What motor/tranny/power do you have???

H22A right now at 8 psi making 307whp and in a few weeks im going back to the dyno and will be running 15+psi, I should be in around 380+whp, and im running an LSD for the trans, with stage 3 axles. I dont plan on launching hard since its just a stock lsd trans. Not looking for any crazy times just something to give me traction, and good pull down the 1/4.

This deal is on the 26" slicks only which is why I am wondering how well they work. I have a buddy run 12.0 on the same tires at 110 in an srt-4 with a gt40r at 22psi. To me seems like his mph should be higher which is why I was thinking they might destroy my top end.

 

24.5 will work better for you. What's the point of using 26's and not "launching" hard??? It put alot of stress on your tranny. I'm use them on my car and can feel the stress/abuse on the drivetrain.

You won't need anything more than a 24.5" tire on a 13" rim.
