looking into buying an s2k
well first, hello. i have been lurking this forum for years and finally decided it was time to register.
anyways, i have found a 2002 s2k in my area i am seriously considering.
-female driven
-clean carfax
-black on black
-bone stock
-61xxx miles
the car is clean as hell and drives perfect. i talked the girl down to 14.5 for the car. my question for you guys was, first....is this a good deal?
second....this car will be a dd for me in the buffalo area and i was wondering how they fair in the snow?
and third... how do you guys like your s2k's?
any advice/ info/ personal experience would be great
Thanks!

I'll get hounded by the DD'ers here, but the S2000 is NOT A DAILY DRIVER'S CAR. It's a second/third car. Small, no cargo room, 2-seater, etc. Granted, I drove my S almost everyday, but when winter time or extreme weather hit, I had my 4Runner. People to pick up at the airport or a camping trip, the S would not have cut it. Obviously, you CAN get one and DD it, but it's not the most ideal situation. If you can't afford another car, you can't afford the S.

after 2 years of DD, i finally have come to the realization that its not. I mean it is if you live by yourself, have no friends, and nothing to haul. I wish my car was weekend only sometimes.

go drive that 02 with 61K and then look for a low milage 04. its the only year with the 2.2L and no drive by wire.
the 2L vs 2.2 is really personal preference. i would defenitely drive both. i did and i prefer the 2.2L 12lb's more tq at the wheel throughout the entire power band more than the 9K redline, but thats all personal.
that 61K is a little much dont you think?

I have DDed my S2000 since May. I love it, driving to work and around town is awesome. I have a hardtop, and honestly believe that without it DDing the S is pretty difficult. The soft top up is waaaayy too loud, and the saying "blind spot" is an incredible understatement. They are blind REGIONS!!!
Get the hardtop, I know it sounds like a lot more but its well worth it.
I hope it doesn't snow down here in VA because there is no way in hell its seeing snow.

61k a bit much? how so. i feel like 14.5 is a great deal. am i right?
the hardtop will be one of my first mods, im not a soft top fan at all.
i think i am going to go for it. it will be a dd this winter with blizzacks, we'll see how it goes. if its unbearable i'll pick up a beater civ.

61k doesn't mean anything. A car with 20k miles could be in much worse condition than one with 100k miles. I think its a great deal.
Snow will not be fun AT ALL. Even with proper tires I've heard its a complete pain in the ***.

yeah ive been basically getting 50/50 responses. some say NOO while others say yes. ill try some decent winter tires and if thats not cutting it, i'll pick up a beater. i'm going to go for it based on the fact that it is such a good deal. looks like i'm picking it up monday!!!

I say do it man. Only if you are financially ready that is. That was my only mistake. Get some pics when you pick her up!

Id say do it. 60k on a Honda is nothing, its just getting warmed up. Also 14.5k is also a very good price, its hard to find that in the bay area for a clean car. I plan on picking up an ap2 in the next couple of months.
