I was going to do the same to clean my tank after the car sat for 4 years while I was building it. I had the same problem. In fact, I slightly dented it trying to pry it out, so I left it. I just drained it and ran fresh gas through it. I know that doesn't help you, but I thought I'd let you know mine was stuck like mad as well. I'd be really interested in hearing how you got it out once you get it out.

i got it
i ended up using a large (3 foot) pry bar and just pushed it in there as far as i could go with it and pulled up hard as hell. The first time i did it with that big *** bar i got it. I didnt mess up the tank too bad either so it worked out. But that sucker was up there good, i almost thought that i forgot to unbolt something it was so tight.

Was there rust-proofing between the frame and the tank? They could have bolting the tank on and the rust-proof in between could have stuck them together....just a thought.
