Hi guys,

My dad has a 2000 TL with about 150,000 kms on it. has been serviced regularly by me and the local dealership. last night he was out and driving home. car decided to stall while in gear. he pulled over to the side and tried to crank it - cranks fine but engine didn't start. He waited for about 15mins to cool the car down and cranked the engine - it started but doesn't idle. he starts it again and revs the engine to keep it running. he puts it into gear and has to drive it home with the revs up.

I have checked all the basics like sufficient fluids, battery, alternator, etc but I can't seem to figure out why this is happening. It now has a check engine light on and I'm waiting on a friend to scan the computer to see what code is being thrown.

I have been worried about this car for the last few year about the tranny - car drives fine when you are going but it doesn't idle.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take it to Autozone to make sure there is no codes. If there is codes stored then that would be easy to fix. I have seen Ignition coils go bad and cause that problem. Also check your timing to see if it in time.
