Can I turn my LS tranny into a GSR tranny??
Hi,
I have an LS Tranny. People say I should get a GSR tranny for my turbo B18B LSvtec because they are better than my LS. So I was looking to rebuilt GSR tranny and add an LSD unit to.
My questions are:
1. Is it really that big of a difference from my LS to GSR tranny for turbo charge car?
2. The only difference is the gears. Since im am leaning toward rebuilding a GSR tranny and add the LSD, why cant i just rebuilt my LS tranny with GSR gears and put the LSD in it?
Is that possible?
Please help.
Thanks HT

As far as I know, you can't do that.
And if you could, with a lot of money...there'd be no point. Just get a good GSR tranny and put LSD into it.
Plus I'd say stay with your LS Tranny. Long gear ratios, better for turbo.

you need a gsr 3-4-5 and you need a 4.4 final drive.

Yes you can.
Sometimes it's more economical.
LS Trans sucks for acceleration.

i have an LS tranny sitting in my garage. I was quoted $450 for labor cost to rebuild a gsr tranny plus install LSD unit. I need to supply parts.
How much would it cost to get gsr 3-4-5 and a 4.4 final drive?
Where do i find Honda Part numbers for these parts?
Is it worth the money to do this? i like the idea of getting a full rebuilt tranny.
Thanks in advance
