I bought my 96 EK from some guy. He told me he bought the car brand new from the dealer without A/C. Summer's killing me , and I was wondering what I would need to do to have A/C in my car. And how much would it be?

I sold my used AC components from an ek for around $200 and I think shipping was another $150...

 

if u are looking for to do it yourself and utilize the used parts.it will probably cost u from $150 ~$200 (junk yard is your best bet).but if u are looking for brand new parts and have a certify machanic install for u.u are looking to spend over $1000.
u will need evaporator.all the ac lines..ac harness..ac belt..condensor and fan.compressor and ac dryer/receiver (this one u have to buy brand new).it can be done.i have done it.so can u.just need some time and a lot of patient
