stuck valve cover nut!!!
the acorn nut on my valve cover is stuck. it just keeps on spinning. how can i take it out? i was at walmart and i saw a blow torch. can i use the blow torch to heat the nut and just pull it off? any suggestions guys
Yeah u could try to heat it up, when I had this happen I just tried to loosten it with a socket or wrench and just pull on it really hard and it should come out.
yea ive tried that. didnt work. should i try to drill the acorn nut off? i dont know what to do. my car is leaking oil from the cam seal and my oil level is always dropping. i need to fix asap.
Is the bolt spinning to? Try to wedge a little screw driver under there and push it up while turn the bolt slowly. You might be able to catch a couple threads and work it off that way. I dont know any other way. Might have to take it to a mechanic or a machinists.
If you can spin it in the other direction and overtighten it, you can break the stud and just put in a new stud.
If you have a dremel, you might be able to cut a slit into the nut and then wedge a screwdriver in the slit to break it apart.
