Default H22 Skunk2 Pro-Series Cams with Type-S Pistons (11:1) compression

Have any of you running Type-S pistons ran the Skunk2 Pro Series Pro1 or Pro2 cams yet? Interested in your results...particularly how the Pro2 cams would fair with 11:1 compression.

pro 1's on stock jdm h22 dyno'd 210 whp tuned with crome....

pro 2's on stock jdm h22. dyno'd 180 after the same engine with stock cams dyno'd at 191. a loss of 11 hp with the pro 2's on a stock jdm H22 tuned with crome.

both cars run on the same dyno with the same tuner...... pro 2's on stock motor

pro 1's on stock motor

i saw in your other post that you were going with pro 2's. i'd say to run pro 1's instead. i've seen the power loss with pro 2's on a mildly modded motor. you need a lot more compression to run those cams.

i have a stock bottom end on my h22a and i have pro series stage2 on my head and its has a basic street tune with crome and i am very unhappy with the results it almost feels as if i lost power rather than gain over my stock cams, i have the degrees set up as (3+ on the intake 4+on the exhaust) thats what the tuner said will work but i must say it sux so far. Im going to the dyno pretty soon hopefully they can tune it better than what it is...

I just degreed ina set Pro2's, on a H22 with one of those dial indicator thingies and degree wheel thingies, and your numbers seem off. Maybe when you get them right it will run better.

like i said on the earlier post i dyno'd a stock H22 with the pro 2's and lost 11 hp. crome tuned... if you want i might know someone who will trade you for the pro 1's. he got a sleeved 14:1 compression motor now and needs some bigger cams. PM SIXTY about it if you are interested. we made 210 on his motor Stock H22 with pro 1's.

Was your stock H22 a USDM engine or a JDM one?

How did your results compare with the Stage 2's vs. the Pro1's then? I think the VTEC lobes on the Stage 2's and Pro2's are similar if I'm not mistaken? Obviously the Pro2 has the more aggressive idle lobes though. But here's the specs from Skunk2's 2007 catalog:

-Stage 2-
Intake: 272 deg. duration, 12.8 lift
Exhaust: 280 deg. duration, 11.9 lift

-Pro 1-
Intake: 264 deg. duration, 12.6 lift
Exhaust 264 deg. duration, 11.9 lift

-Pro 2-
Intake: 270 deg. duration, 12.8 lift
Exhaust: 276 deg. duration, 12.0 lift

here's my Dyno before and after I got the SK2 PRo2's, it would of made more power with a hondata, something other than a VAFC

Nice thanks for posting that. So do you have JDM or USDM motor? I'm guessing JDM because USDM H22's never make that much torque. Which IM are you running and what size TB. What header are you using too?

You do realize, like donf stated, and for that matter, every question refering to the pro2's, was always answered by, are the cams degreed in correct...
Those are some Huge cams, they needed to be degreed in to get the correct, lash, the correct clearences and gap info, w/o doing this your trying to **** in the wind basically...i run the s2s2's... leaning towards the pro1's now if that helps.

yeah it was a JDM motor, I was running a Sk2 IM and a BDL 70mm TB...I the header was a Jasma that was modified with a 2 1/2 collector....The mtor ended up making 258 with some more mods

Thats pretty impressive.

I was on the phone with Skunk2 today discussing with the tech guy's which cam would be best for my setup. They suggested the Pro 1 cams. He said they usually like to see about 11.5:1 to see good power out of the Pro 2 cams but you totally disproved that.

I've been following this thread for a bit since I'll also be running 11:1 compression. Flat face REV Racing valves and .005" off the head.

No, I put the F22 crank in with the Malhe gold series pistons....I wish I would of had a hondata it would made alot more power than it did....I sold the motor to a friend of mine so it will be tuned on a hondata or chrome pro
