Could it be a spun bearing or something else?
The car was driving fine, until I got on on the hwy. I took it up to redline in 2nd and 3rd, then I let off, then I coasted at 65; Thats when I heard it, sounded like meta to metal clanking. First thing I did was try and pin-point the sound..no luck, kinda sounds like its comming from the back of the motor. It only does it when I hold the rpms past 3k...or if I hit the gas and then let off quickly. I then drained my oil to look for shavings (don't know if I should have removed the oil pan instead); no shavings what so ever in the oil. I needed a new release bearing, so I went ahead and took the tranny off and the pilot bearing was on its way out as well; so now the release bearing and pilot bearing have been replaced, but the problem is still there. Power wise the car still feels the same, then again I haven't driven it hard since I parked it.
Any and all help is appreciated.

I've got it George.
What you have done is spun a rod bearing, a loud clank for the rear of the block at three thousand rpm is the sign of a freshly spun bearing.
If it makes the sound on startup and shut off then it is definitely a spun rod bearing.
You need to park the car immediately and begin going thru the motor, you can put it on a lift remove the oil pan and check the rods that way.

yeah i had that same problem with my old b18...when i took mine apart though the crank and rod were both really scarred...i had to get a new motor. Take the oil pan off and pray to God that its not that bad!
