Holy ******* resize that photo.
B17? Isn't that out of the DA GSR?
You will have to completely re-machince that engine if it did indeed seize. Look at spending around $2,000-$4,000 if you send it to someone to build up.

Corrected. You can offer 300 bucks but thats still alot of money considering you can have a running one for a couple hundred bucks more instead of spending a couple thousand on a rebuild. All a b17 is, is a 15 year old b16.

headwise internal wise, the b17 has a really great R/s ratio, from what ive seen from stock power the b17 maintains its power higher than the gsr and b16 engines. its a really great engine.

Yeah various parts you'll get out of the deal, will be worth it in the long run.
The B17 has a excellent tranny and anyone that owns a cable tranny car would pay loads for it.

yes yes we would, the b17 tranny is the most agressive b-series tranny gearing wise.

okay i was slightly wrong
the ys1 short geared is the shortest(92-93 gsr, 91-92 xsi)
not the 89-90 s1/j1.

dude get the b17 and cherish it as it was a blacksheep motor and its basically a square motor with rod stroke ratio. i have a 92 gs-r and love my b17. plus with that in your car as good as it looks it will get more ahhs, as my car is stock right now and every meet iv gone to iv got respect and much props for having a b17a1 and just a nice stock looking gs-r. but yea rebuild it with some p30 pistons and get the block done and get headwork and you will have a fun motor with one of the best trannys honda made (cable wise) with a nice looking car. just my 2cent. search for b17, b17a, b17a1 and you will get some good info on this engine

i think thats a great deal for a pretty much complete b17a1, i have a 1992 integra gsr with the original b17a1 which i love to death but its not the fastest motor out their, but the tranny is pretty short! at 80 mph the rpm is at 4,500 which sucks that gas prices are so high and i run 91 octane but anyways i think you should grab the motor because it cool and kinda rare, and remember that the tranny is a cable tranny and ur car is a hydro!
if the crank and rods are still good, snag it. If its "SEIZED" meaning it ran out of oil......your just wasting your money and time.

how? i can have the block re-sleeved, and i plan on new pistons and rods anyways. the head and tranny are worth more than $300 by themselves. no?

I've tried selling an S1 tranny for $100 and nothing (i know totaly different situation) but the point is if the tranny grinds or the crank is scratched or undersized your potential market of intrested is much smaller. You should really take it everything apart and inspect it (if he allows you to do so of course. The problem with b17 (p61) rods is that very few companies produce replacement rods for it (Crower?). All i recomend to you is not to get caught up in "seemingly" good deals on a sized block it might end up cost you much more then you anticipated.
