Default b18 transmission on a d16y8?

I have been doing some research and have had trouble finding an exact answer. Im sure its possible but what is needed to do this? An adapter plate and what else? Any info would be good. How well does a d16y8 tranny hold up to boost? Thanks in advance.

sounds like a pain in the *** to do and very unreliable. why not just get a b16 tranny or gsr. even an ls would seem more logical than mounting a b series block to a d series tranny. can this even be done?

There was a race only kit that a company was make and it was called a b2d kit. Do a search for that and you will find all the info you need.!

Sounds like A waste of time. You'd be a lot better off getting custom D-gears and an OBX lsd.

NOT worth it. At all. In any respect.

rota92 has done it

the reason he has it is because he's setting records.

Yes it may seem impractical, but it's not like drag racing is practical either.

Why would he use a b-series tranny? Better potential for gears?

Durability?

d-series transmissions are not set up for acceleration. its a damn economy car! lol why do people swap out h-series transmission for b-series transmission? because they are more reliable and have better characteristics. yes upgrading internals is an option. i have the means of fabricating my own adapter plate. so thats why i am interested. THANKS EX-T AND BENSE FOR THE INFO/HELP!

the y8 tranny is your best bet, if youre going to stick with easy swaps...

if you're doing it to gain acceleration you're going to be better off just getting some aftermarket gears.

I will agree that the stock d-series transmission gearing sucks though. the shortest stock geared trans is equivalent to the worst b-series trans (ls)

the zc hybrid is pretty good, it's like a gsr trans. But if you put a zc 1-2-3-5 with a cx/vx 3rd of 1.0666 in with a si final drive, or like thehatchninja's zxi 4.4375 final drive, it can be pretty gangsta.

Mfactory also offers a 3/5 gearset which is pretty gnarly in a z6/y8 trans
