Default Oil Additives

Long story short, guy i bought the car from hadn't done a valve job, i had one done, but the cams had pretty bad lashes in them, so now the valves tick. Car runs fine, i was just wondering if adding like the engine restore stuff or anything along those lines is bad for the car. 2.2 vtec. Any thoughts would be appreciated

they are not bad for the engine but its just a very short lived bandaid. plus if the cams are scored i do not believe anything but remachining or getting new cams would help.

Yeah, it probably won't hurt anything but it won't do any good either...and it certainly won't fix the cams. H-series engines naturally have noisy valvetrains, but you may want to try a valve adjustment and see if that helps at all.

I had them adjusted thats how i found out about the cams. And i am having the head redone when i get the money, i'm just going on a trip about 800 mi round trip, i just dont want anything to happen. The honda dealership told me i'm fine to drive it, that its just noisy and i need to get it taken care of, but it wouldn't hurt anything.

But alot of honda techers are smarter than the dealership guys i think.

Which lobes on the cams are damaged?

You haven't looked at it yourself? Pull the valve cover and take some pics...it would help if people could see what you're talking about.
