What OBD version is the EM1 ran with?
I know it's obd-2. But which one? "a" or "b"?
And to make it a bit more tech and to make this a possible learning thread, what's the difference between the two?
Reason I'm asking is because I might possibly pick up an Apexi Power FC for obd2-a if it can run my EM1.

Well, problem is that the tuner I'm probably going to go with (very limited in choices here) is pretty much a power fc guy. He really knows what he's doing with it. In order for me to get a really good tune I'm willing to pick up one of these. I have a chipped P28 here, but can't find anybody to do anything with it around here. So I'm going to get the power fc and run with that.
So for the second part of the question, what's the difference between a and b?

<---see location. I'm on an island. I wish I could just drive to another city and pick whatever tuner I want. Not an option though.
The power fc guy has the best reputation on the island. I already blew my motor up once. That was an expensive lesson I don't want to repeat.

It will work fine. You'll just need an OBD-2a to OBD-2b conversion harness.

To the best of my knowledge, the reason for the "update" involved differing emissions standards, but for the purposes of this discussion the only difference you need to be concerned with is the fact that they use different ECU connector configurations (hence the need for the conversion harness).
