Default Saying goodbye tomorrow to ITR 00-0009

Well, after about six weeks or so on the market, my 2000 Integra Type R #0009 is going to be picked up by her new owner tomorrow. A gentleman from New York called me the morning my fellow we-todds and I left for the Expo and said simply "I want your car, will you take $xx,xxx?"

We've spent the weeks since hammering out the details - I paid the car off to obtain a clear title, and he began making travel arrangements from NY to NC. He's going to fly down, rent a truck and dolly, and tow 009 back to NY.

I just got back in from the garage, taking care of the last few details. She's had a bath, a fresh oil change and the CW wheels put back on (more tread). I took out the RS door handles, threw the gunmetals inside and polished up a water spot or two. Oh, and took the NC plate off.

How do I feel? Sad and excited. Sad because I'll miss driving such a soul-stirring car. Sad because I'll no longer see that beautiful shape when I open the garage door. Sad that I'm selling a single-digit car.

But I get excited when I think of what the T5 has to offer - more power, more room, more comfort. Oh, and the best part - with the sale of 009, I'll be debt-free. Throw some shocks/spring and some real tires under the Turbo Pig, and I'll be quite happy.

I've told several people this. While 009 is fun to drive, the T5 is much more enjoyable to drive. I've made the right decision - it's time to move on. The lure of factory boost was too strong for me.

Luckily, all of the we-todds have forgiven me for leaving the ITR camp - they think turblows are cool, too But I have to think about it like this - there's an expression in Scouting - "You're always an Eagle Scout." I think you're always a Type R driver, even if you don't have one any longer.

Pat, who is looking forward tonight, not back

I think you should leave the RS door handles in the glove box. He's from NYC, he'll need all the theft prevention he can get.

Good luck with the T5 and hope you stay on H-T.

Vaya con Dios... a salvo del Malvado

Yes, you'll always be an ITR we-todd... just don't try to toss the Turbo Pig into a corner like 009. It's called mass and momentum/inertia and the laws of physics don't write tickets.

V. - still ITR, ex- NC

Funny, ITRBroham and I had that very same conversation a few weeks ago. Sadly both of us have left the 'ITR' owners club...(itrbroham was forcefully removed..fuggin theives) But I honestly think that i will always call myself an ITR owner.

btw i know that excited/sad feeling your talking about, had the same when I surendered the keys to 00-1211...

Well I'm glad you're happy in your decision and Good luck w/ the T5!!

Don't think about it, cars are cars. The Volvo is what you wanted and I am sure you will be able to enjoy it more than the R

Just send the new guy our way

Thanks, kids. He should be here about 2pm or so - I'm going to pick him up near the airport and then get the tow dolly. Do all the paperwork on the way back, and he should be on his way back to NY by four. I'm going to give him the honda-tech URL, but I don't know how much of a computer guy he is.

He's already excited about it. I know he'll take good care of 009

I've already taken the tag off, and I'm going to see if the DMV will let me use it on the Turbo Pig. Just to keep a little bit of 009 around

After I get the check deposited, a call will be placed to http://www.shox.com, and the Pig buildup will begin

Pat, who will definitely still be around on H-T, as long as y'all don't mind Pig posts
