For those with high mileage EP3/RSX's...
What kind of problems (mechanical, visual, anything) have you experenced? Do the seat bolsters start ripping at 130,000 miles? Clutch burnout? Burn any oil? Etc.
Just want to see what problems happen with our cars so I/we can avoid them.
Out of curiousity, what mileage are you all at with your car?

Clutch is user error casing wear. They are going to be like any other honda. Last a long time unless you beat the **** out of it. My last honda(99 civic) was beaten to **** motor wise by myself for two years and nothing broke. The seats would be also determined on how big of a person you are and how you get in and out of the car. My last car (ep3) had the drivers seat sides wearing at 64k. My rsx with 45k has wear in the leather on the drivers seat, but I think that is because the idiot before me never conditioned the leather.

03 Base at about 80,000. So far so good, except the 3rd gear synchro thing that Acura fixed a while back
I'm probably just gunna do some minor maintainance on my own ie. replace some hoses, change out fluids, the cabin filter etc.

That made me
Didnt think the aftermarket set would last that long!
I am assuming you don't have the car "slammed", rather just tastefully lowered.

02 Type-S - coming up on 80k...
The leather is cheap and the color wears out on it. When I bought the car with 39k on it the steering wheel was really worn, got Acura to replace it under warranty though, hehe.
Replaced the secondary 02 twice. Finally got K-Pro and turned off the damned code tho, so I don't care about that anymore.
Front rotors are expensive as hell. Don't ever put semi-metallic pads on the front, they will squeel and f-up the rotors. I'm still dealing with that nightmare.
Tranny can grind occasionally in 2nd or 3rd if I drive the car hard before the tranny has time to warm up. Otherwise the tranny is smooth in all gears once warmed up, you just have to shift correctly.
I think the problem that most people don't realize is that the stock clutch starts to grab within an inch of the floor, and most people clutch lazily while shifting quickly, so the tranny never really slows down properly, hence all the 2nd and 3rd gear grinding issues. If I drive properly, I can shift faster than most people and never grind.
This car has been awesome, the perfect blend of luxury and chaos (once I got K-Pro).

myself i got me a 05 DC5 type s
currently got 70k+ miles
alot and no more warranty
had a gear and sinkro problem around 30k, (reminder never let your dumb friends try to down shift in your ride) miss shift caused my gears to jam and grind, lucky for me acura covered that one which was not bad and pretty sweet.
than i had a second case. next time you do a tranny flush ONLY use HONDA TRANNY FUILD and it will not fail you, one of my buddies that is a master mechanic for toyota told me ne premium motor oil would work fine, but the thing that he he didn't know was that K20 has some sensitive *** gears so even the tranny fluid matters ALOT. pretty much my tranny started to fall apart after couple months, the motor was running great with regular motor for the tranny but in the long run it kills your gears. bummer for me cuz the 2nd one cost me. and it was big time bucks for labor and parts (15 hundred
)
other than the tranny this car is awesom
needs more torque but what honda doesn't nah mean
tranny repairs are the worst
do some research before you follow thru

78K on my 02 EP3 and no real problems with anything that it came from the factory with. The only thing I had is the housing of the driver side headlight got really hazy, so I just replaced it. Other than that, it's been great.

I would say the paint and leather are your own fault. Failure to take care of the car is another story. I can not stress how important it is to use a good leather cleaner and then follow it by a conditioner. For the paint a good coat of a good quality wax will keep the paint looking great.
I am guessing you are using a race header or test pipe. Otherwise you are not buying the plug and play 02 sensors. I personally think the trany grind is user error also. People do not know how to shift and cause it. Mine has 46k and no noises from the trany. I have seen some people drive manual and no wonder trans problems arrise.

2003 RSX-S. At about 60K the drivers side power lock solenoid died. Dealer replaced under AcuraCare warranty (7yrs/100k). Other than that, not a single problem (however, I apply leather care products every few months).
