itr vs wrx
i just went to subaru dealer today with my friend, and he bought a WRX. while i was there i was so close to trade in my R for that car. only thing that stops me was because of the price they 'd pay for my R. they told my my R is worth 25000CND. WTF my R is 1 yr old has 13000 km on it and it's 2001, with a/c oem full bodykit. i told them i want at least 30k but they couldnt do it. anyhow i was just thinking to get WRX so i can forget all those thief ****. i mean i love my R but just too much BS to put up with.
what do you guys think ?

I did the same thing recently. It's nice not having to worry about your car when you park it. Also, it's a ton of fun to drive, crazy straight line accel, decent handling (Could use some stiffer springs, maybe some strut tower/sway bars) but toss on a turbo back exhaust, and you're well into the 13's. Go for it man.
i think you are crazy if you are gonna trade the R for a wrx.
WRX is a turbo car and it's so easy to get 300hp, so less money to spend. after all throw a STI suspesion i think the car would be much better, AWD is pretty good here in ontario, since our winter is long.
the only i dont like is THEY only giving me 25000CDN for a UNIQUE car, i think that's the price they ask for a 97 R on autotrader
Plus i just know that STI stuff cost less then mugen. so with less money i can have the car sup up good

It's NOT just a unique car, Hell it looks like most any other Integra on the road sans the stupid wing.
AND If you don't really understand, then maybe the WRX is for you!
I do however, understand the weather restrictions for those unlucky enough to Not have a winter beater or second car.
But, if you took both cars to the track I think you would really understand. If you already have done a head to head and feel this way, then Good luck with your new Scoobie.
As my friend that has a WRX said after I took him for lap and he drove a lap for himself at last Sunday's X event; "This is SUCH an experience, I really can't describe it, just so balanced..." Remember, that he was running his Scoobie that day. I was running my R.
The WRX's brakes alone are Not even a close equivalent, handeling is another dimension.
Best wishes and Good luck, just make sure your R gets a good home.

well thx for advise, i'm still thinking if i should or shouldnt. i know how R is better on the track, i drive both car on track last summer. i do agree my R is a lot better then WRX but WRX isnt so bad, plus i dont go to track everyday only 5 times or so during summer( too bad cant race during winter). i just hate everytime when i park i have to worry if someone is "check out" my R. like today after the dealer wrote my VIN and my address i'm really scared what if tomorrow i wake up and my R is gone. too much BS to worry about.
i think every R owner know how i feel, or feel the same thing everday.

The ABS unit for the WRX is Extremely intrusive, Not allowing for anything near threshold braking. It's ABS kicks in when it is running over some bumpy roads. They also tend to be mushier and not quite trust inspiring.
The Shifter is notchier and doesn't feel as correct as the R's, EVEN the STI unit which is what I used.
The Car is and feels Heavier and not nearly as nimble.
These are just a few of MY findings. I am NOT bashing the WRX. I actually do like it and enjoyed driving it But, I wouldn't trade my R for a WRX any day. And certainly NOT for the price that the dealer offered you.
Now the Real Lancer that is coming? H'mmm...
To each his own and I do understand that the WRX and ITR are 2 completely differently designed platforms. I just prefer the R.
Again, No Bitching, Just IMO, Good luck,

BTW i think WRX has better brakes then R, isnt the front cali for WRX is 4 piston but ours is two ? correct me if i'm wrong but no bitcccccccchhhhhhhhhing
Perhaps the reason the R does not come with a more exotic brake package is because it doesn't "need" it. Remember that Realtime won the championship in 1997 with the stock R brake package and Hawk blue pads.
I think the Rs brakes speak for themselves.
But still, I’ll tip my hat to the WRX. In a world full of bland me too cars, the rex stands out and is very effective.

Why are you posting this type of thread in the ITR forum?
I have driven both and I am not even going to comment. It is up to you and whatever makes you happy. Good luck with your decision.

well most likely i'm not gonna go for WRX, because the dealer is only offer me 25000cdn and that makes me have to pay 17k to get WRX. um... dont have that kinda money to spend.
and my question is why is my R only go for 25k ?
it's 2001 with 13000 km on it. no dent no accident. with AEM intake, mugen header, all 6 speaks upgrade to eclipse, i also have all the original parts. why is my R only worth that much ? are they just trying to rip me off ?

I was wondering....which of these two cars is faster from 0-60 and 1/4 mile. I have read some rediculous times for the WRX...0-60 in 5.6 comparing it to the S4. My friend has one with just an AEM intake. I have a 98 type R also with the AEM intake, I am getting the JUN ECU with OBD1, and a thermal exhaust. What would the outcome of this race be? Thanks

it extends my vtech to 9600...which means every time I shift, I will be above 7500 rpm. shouldnt that account for something?
It will account for 16 bent valves.
unless you have good valvetrain , and also good set of cams . its pointless to rev that high with stock internals

, either way there both good cars
