Have you done anything to the suspension geometry lately? Something to position the steering knuckle further outboard? Just checking everything, although it seems like that would pull the tripod out from the inner driver instead of what you're getting.

New axles lately? ANYTHING different anywhere?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by I got the CD5 Jeebies! &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">checked fluid fine, checked axels fine, checked shift linkage fine.......started working on it today and I noticed something (i can shift through all 5 gears w/out clutch) when I engage a gear the SPEDO jumps to 20mph(the car aint moving) 1st-4th but when I engage 5th it jumps to 35mph!?!?!?!? Also when I hit the accelerator the SPEDO jumps accordingly to the tach...for example if I rev the motor to 4500 rpms the SPEDO say 45mph!?!?!? 6000 rpms 60mphs! I did this numorously so it seemed consistant...also I hear a quiet whiney klicky sound coming from the tranny while its engaged? i dunno I stumped any outside input would be appriciated</TD></TR></TABLE>

What about damage to the internal splines during the time when the axles were popped out? When you engage a gear & try to drive, the differential spins but the axle doesn't. Seems like you're grinding away at those splines whenever you do that.

I don't know how fast that would grind away, or what's the best way to check that... So this is just an idea - maybe someone can say what their experience has been for something like that.
