SCCA classing help!
I've been running my region (NRSCCA) in DSP with my 1999 Acura Integra GS. I was recently told by another racer that my car should be kicked into SM (street mod) for running a '99 Civic Si tranny on a B18b1 motor.
All the mods done to the car:
Mild head porting (cleaned up intake side and portmatched header side).
Taylor 8mm plug wires.
B&M adj. fpr w/ gauge.
AEM sri.
Comptech 4-2-1 header.
Action 2ms clutch disc (6 puck).
Action HD pressure plate.
Action 9lb flywheel.
'99 EM1 tranny w 4.40FD.
Skunk2 60mm catback.
Carsound converter.
Omnipower Sport full coilovers.
ITR 22mm rear sway.
Nuespeed front upper brace.
Nuespeed rear upper brace.
EM Racing c-pillar brace.
ASR rear sub brace.
and I run rt-615's on the courses...should be nothing wrong with that.

SM is right. You can't mix and match engine and transmissions in Street Prepared.
I'm not sure what the legality of these are either: "EM Racing c-pillar brace, ASR rear sub brace."
There are pretty strict (and often silly) rules about what you can do with bars and braces and where they attach, and if the rules don't say you can do it, then you can't.
I would say you should definitely run in SM. You're on Azenis, so either way you're outclassed by people with Hoosiers and V710's. Might as well accept the classing structure and run legally.

It doesn't matter how slow you are, you ought to read the rulebook.

the porting puts you into street mod if you went in farther then 1" into the ports.
also allowed is Max head milling of .01"
you can run any engine and tranny from that body style, as Street Prepared is all about Update/Backdate allowances.
just happens that all Integras are placed in DSP. type r, gsr, Ls. which i think is kinda weird as the type R would be the best choice i think.
you can run B18b1, B18C1, B18C5 engines and transmissions, you can't interchange parts between them though. (i.e. ITR final drive in GSR tranny. ITR pistons in GSR engine). als0 unlimited intake manifolds are allowed, even ITB's.
if the civic si tranny is the same as a ITR tranny then i think it would be legal. i have no idea about that though.

here are a couple of relevant rules from the 2007 rulebook:
Street Prepared 15.1 C
"The updating and/or backdating of engines, transmissions or transaxles must be done as a unit; component parts of these units may not be interchanged."
Street Prepared 15.10 S
"Intake and exhaust ports and manifold openings may be matched provided no change is made more than one inch from the port/manifold interface. Material may be removed to facilitate port matching, but no material may be added"

I was told the head porting was fine there was very little removed it was also done back when I had the crower valvetrain and 404's, it's the tranny that's getting me pretty much. The NRSCCA isn't very strict though, but if I were to go to nationals next month and try to run in DSP I would be SOL. Tires are fine since there DOT legal, plus just about everyone runs them if not the hoosier's and kumho's. So if I swap in a B18C1/C5 as the whole unit I should be fine correct? Could I run in D Mod with my current set up? There's a guy here with the same setup (b18b1 w/ EM1 tranny) in his del sol.

D Mod? that's way beyond Street Prepared and Street Modified.
yes, in DSP you can swap in a whole USDM ITR engine/transmission, or GSR engine/transmission, and use any LSD in either. JDM swaps would be legal in SM, but not DSP.
yes, there's nothing wrong with running Azenis. they are legal for ALL classes, you'll just be getting killed by R-compounds in DSP and SM, or true race slicks in the Prepared and Modified classes (note that Prepared and Modified are NOT Street Prepared and Street Modified- entirely different classes).
all this being said, it's up to YOU to class your car correctly, and your competition to protest you if they want to. I've never seen a protest at the local level personally. If you ran Nationals in DSP or SM on Azenis, I'm sure nobody would bother to protest you anyway.

Well looks like I'll be saving up and finishing my c1 swap, lol. This is my first season and there is a local forum I had posted in to get help with classing my car. I was told DSP but after reading the solo rules a little I started having some doubt's. No one has protested me and really DSP has like 4 people total here, there would be more drivers to compete against if I moved up to street mod. But like everyone said most run thr R compounds in street mod so either way I'm screwed unless I get a full set of R comps.
