So ive been hearing that the CTR pulley is junk cause it doesnt have a balancer of some sort and its gonna F my crank up after a lil while

anyone want to clarify?

i was thinkin about getting a CTR pulley for my poor man type R setup

 

i have a few buddy's that have been running the ctr pulley without no problems. Just make sure it itsnt chipped or cracked, since a unbalanced pulley is liable to throw off your oil pump.

 

yeah ctr crack pulley works great. I didnt have any problem with it before when i used to have it on my car.

part of the balancing of the crank has to do with the pulley, in theory lightening it could throw off its balance

 

my gf's car has one on it and it runs fine and has been fine for the several years it has had it on it

 

i've heard this as well , i bought one a while back and found that people believe that it's unbalanced, harmonic balancer has said to be the problem. but people use underdrive pulleys that are not oem and i haven't heard of a problem about them ?

does the stock pulley have balancers... not all they have is some rubber around the ridges... the ctr pulley deal is a myth its been tested by tearing down an engine and check the wear on the engine bearing after 10k miles. it was in the all motor forum.

 

ive had 2 (internally stock) motors with low oil pressure and excessive bearing clearance and both of them had CTR pulleys. i cant prove that it was because of the pulley, but i am convinced the lower end problems were caused by the pulley. The test mentioned above was only to 10,000 miles. What about 20,000, or 50,000? A solid pulley is only good for a perfectly internally balanced motor. Now, I only run oem on stock motors or fluidampr if the motor is revving higher than it was originally designed.

Why even risk it? Its not like the pulley is going to actually make a difference.
