Default Mechanics help please!!! unfixable 2003 honda accord

One day car started bucking really bad and wouldnt disengage out of gear (the car is an auto). Car would shut down and run erraticly. Took to dealer and dealer couldnt fix it. After that another shop found out the computer went bad and replaced. Car runs fine and smooth ...however only when the ac is on and car is at a stop in gear car starts to misfire and eventually misfires so bad that it shuts down the motor. Is there anyone out there that has seen this before. Please help. Ask a friend. We are stumped. HELP!!!!!

ps. the fuel system was recently flushed as well.

Have you tested the battery?

I know this might sound funny... but that car needs a good solid 12 volts to run everything and if your losing it after you turn things on.....

my 2 cents

The car will drive fine with the ac on for about 10 to 15 minutes thats when all of the problems begin to happen. I have been reading for the past hour and have found that many people end up replacing these transmissions...specifically due to tourque converter failure. could this be a possibility....seeing as how there is no check engine light to log a misfire?

You might have more then a single issue here. The engine stalling after running bad might have little to do with the car failing to shift..

Does this car run hot? I have heard of similer problems on other cars (not specificly honda) when a plugged catalitic converter has been the cause of the engine issue... and as the whole thing is computer controled it might even effect the trannie.

I just went through a similar issue with another vehicle when it was the catalytic converter. I took the car to a transmission place where they looked at the cat for me and said that was fine too. I dont know if it is possible for the ac compresor to begin to lock up and seize the motor. That would explain why i never get a check engine light for the misfires. the car does not run hot at all....in fact the car runs fine. This is only an issue with the ac on and while the car is in drive and at a stop

This really is a tough one. If you had a cel amd a code it would have been easier to diagnose. Perhaps we are digging too deep into this. I know you changed the computer in this car... granted it was burned out but did it have this problem before the computer burned out?

Is it the right computer?

You mentioned the ac compressor ceasing... Well it dosent happen a lot but it can happen. As a diagnosic can you pull the wires off the compressor and see if that gets rid of at least some of the issues?

Btw if your compressor is starting to cease the belt should look like hell.. might be a give away.

The only other thing i can think of in regards to the way it runs is maybe something came loose.. bad ground or connector or something.

Best of Luck

Too bad you live so far away , this is the kind of thing I could really get into.

The torque converter may be locking up when stopped in gear. Could be a bunch of things. It'd be nice to see the data list when the symptom is present.

Just a quick thought , if the torque converter is getting jammed you might have metal flakes in your trannie pan.

if you have the issue only when the a/c is on,, i would chk to see if system is overfilled ..or compressor starting to lock up
has anyone done any a/c work recently ??

Yes they did ac work on the car but according to what the dealer told me they did not have to put freon in the system. I have been told that as well though. Right now my mechanic is waiting on a friend of his to come up with some ideas. The problem is that there is no check engine light and the computer does not recognize that anything is wrong. hopefully some of these ideas help out some. thanks guys!
